Chapter Three.

He felt a trickle of warm sweat down his cold, phantom like face. He couldn’t see around him, it was pitch black. He could hear sounds of the air conditioner whirling away above his head. As he finally came to realisation he started to speculate where he was and what he was doing there. He tried moving his hands but they were strapped to a hard, frigid metal chair. His hands tied up with coarse, rugged ropes.                                                                                                    “HELLO.” He belched. “HELP ME.” He was quieted by the soft, light creaking noise behind him. He turned around and saw there was a door, the lights outside were on and he saw clouded shadows behind it. The door unlocked. A silhouette of a scraggy, gangling woman with fuzzy, disordered hair scurried towards him like a rat. The man could tell she was bare foot as he could hear her stale, dry skin sliding across the concrete floor, her long toe nails screeching against it like nails on a chalk board. It sent a trail of goose bumps down his spine. Suddenly, long, biting spider like fingers wrapped around his face, covering his eyes. He could feel a chilling breath beside him, getting faster and faster.                         “Hahahahahahahahahaha” cried Fei Yen. He quivered at the sound of the intimidating expulsion of hysterics. Fei Yen thrashed her elongated fingers against the man’s face. “You move when I tell you to move, do you understand?” There was a silence followed by the sound of another clap. “And you talk when I tell you do talk, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?”     “I understand.” He said shivering.

Chapter Two.

2.
He opened his eyes and stretched. The curtains were already spread and the sun was shining on his face. He loved the feeling of heat on his body and was ready for the day. He turned his head to the left and was bewitched by the most beautiful, naked woman he’d ever seen. Her curvaceous legs were glowing in the shades of the sunrise and her breasts were perfectly plump and full of life. Her radiant skin went so well with her yielding lips and her angelic, dark eyes. This made him feel like the luckiest man in the world. However, he had a sad, aching look on his face.  “You truly are so beautiful,” the man whispered. The woman was startled and ran into the bathroom trying to cover herself, embarrassed and ashamed.

The smell of the honeyed bacon and salty eggs wafted around the kitchen. The woman bobbed down the stairs with a horrific look of disgust.                                     “You know I can’t eat this. Why would you make me something I can’t eat?”                   “You’ve been eating basically rabbit food for the past few months; I think you deserve a treat, don’t you?” He tried to lighten the mood by smiling his tremendous smile. She used to love that smile, his naturally pursed, pink lips against his tiny teeth. She always thought they were cute. Now he had pale, thin lips that camouflaged into his grey, skeletal face. She used to love how strong his arms were, how they would sweep her up and pin her against the wall. The intense look of enchantment they used to give each other when their eyes met. His firm black eyes fixated on hers. She would ruffle her hands into his thick black hair. That strong, forcefulness made her feel like a woman. But now, his hair was thinning. His legs looked weak and his arms were fragile. It appeared like he hadn’t slept in days. The dark circles around his eyes resembled murky caves, caves that hid foreboding secrets inside.

They ate in silence. She stared at the other end of the table and saw the oils bleeding out of the bacon, the runny, yellow yolk dripping off the side of the plate and the crumbs from his bagel all over his t-shirt. “You make me sick!” she said.                                             “What is wrong with you? Every time I try and make an effort all you do is find all the negatives about it. You know, I’m attempting to do my hardest. We’re having a baby together and I want to help you in every way I can. But you’ve got to let me in, you’ve got to let me help you. God help me, you’re not perfect. No one is. I’m just trying to do my best.” She was silent. Everything was silent.                                                                                               “I’m leaving you, Shen.” She said motionlessly and departed.

Chapter One.

1.

The city of Xuancheng was a beautiful place, especially after dark. It was a warm night; the sky was clear, luminous stars stood out upon the black sky. The road was almost deserted. It was nearly 10 pm. People were rushing home to their families ready to devour that lovely meal their wives cooked and then go to bed as soon as possible to do the same thing they did that morning. This wasn’t the case for Fei Yen Ling. She’d been planning this day for a long time. Tonight is perfect, she thought. Looking at the multi-coloured lights of the city which nearly blinded her, she smiled to herself. She just remembered her favourite colour was blue and was almost fascinated by all the royal colours seen above her, setting her off in ecstasy. It had been a long time since Fei Yen left the house after her daughter died.

She pulled up in front of her worn down house. The house was small in shape and size. The wooden door looked defeated as there were holes peering into her home. No handle seemed to exist and a bunch of papers were in place of a door stopper. Windows were all barred up and shattered glass seemed to be in place of where the green grass used to be. The colour of the house itself used to be white, but was now examined by ivy vines. She got out her car and stared at the distasteful house which was once a home, but it seemed she was pleased with herself. Her attention quickly focused onto her car trunk. She opened the front door of her car and started looking into the glove compartment. She filled the syringe up with a clear liquid and headed for the trunk. There laid a man, gagged and tied up. His eyes opened, blood shot and tired. He wanted to scream but not even a whisper could come out. She quickly inserted the syringe into his neck and he fell into unconsciousness.
